Black Quarter Horse

SOLD

"YOGI 2010"
9"x12"

This was a commissioned painting that I very much enjoyed putting together for a lovely client. Yogi is green broke and is a gental, handsome young man. The rope and the hackamore were a challenge to paint, but it was so much fun!

"Grace in the Snow"

SOLD

"Grace in the Snow"
8" x 10"

This is a commissioned painting of the beautiful, energetic Vizsla. These dogs are known for their high energy, defined muscles and trainability. I want to give credit to the owner of this dog who supplied me with a great reference photo to create this painting. I enjoyed capturing the subtle, orange reflection in the snow just under the dog along with the beauty and grace of this breed.

"Gypsy Vanner"

Small Painting Series

4" x 5" Original

Here is another painting demonstration in my Gypsy Vanner series. In this painting, I wanted to show that when the sun hits just right, you can look into the eye and see the rich, rusty color while at the same time you are able to see the spherical shape from the contour of the highlights.

"Wind Chaser"

"Wind Chaser"

11" x 14" original

This painting was an absolute labor of love! Because I grew up around horses, I admire everything about them! From the soft skin underneath their nostrils to the frogs under their hooves, they are very unique. This painting was a joy for me because of the challenge of showing the embedded dust in the base of the mane gradiating out to the glistening strands of hair flowing in the breeze.

Boston Terrier "Booker"

SOLD
"Booker"
Small Painting Series

4" x 5" original

Here I am doing what I used to do for so many years… painting fabulous show dogs. My sister Becky and I used to travel all over showing our dogs. Consequently I ended up pursuing champion dog portraits and to this day I still immensely enjoy trying to capture the regalness of these fine tuned dogs. This little guy, Booker, is almost a champion and his personality is adorable!! Good luck Tamara… he’ll finish soon!!

Redhead Duck Painting

WooHooo!!!! We're back from Sacramento attending the California Duck Stamp contest judging! I took 3rd place Nation wide and the only Calif. artist to get into the top 3. The competition was tough and I'm so proud to get a ribbon at all!!! I had my wonderful husband Rich holding my hand and my great friends there too. ...Thank you so much for caring and being there with me. ♥

Canada Goose

$375
(includes custom framing)

"Canada Goose"
Small Painting Series

4" X 5" original

I recently went on a houseboat trip with my family to Shasta Lake in Northern California. Though this was strictly a fishing trip, a happy goose couple made their presence be known and followed us around from time to time looking for a handout. We didn’t feed them, but I did take advantage of this great photo opportunity and decided to make one of them my newest painting.

Comanche's passing

Comanche was a majestic ambassador. I will miss seeing him greatly. I'd like to share my pastel painting of him... his eyes were so gentle and spoke of his soul.

Update!!

Hello there! First let me wish a Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful mothers out there!! It's been awhile since I have posted because I have been busy working on my entry for the California Duck Stamp Contest. I completed and delivered it to Sacramento and I am waiting for a date for the live judging which I hear will be sometime before the end of this month. I can't wait to post the image for all of you to see when the judging is complete! My next project will be another small painting with a youtube video. With the time it has taken to complete the duck stamp entry and with the start of the art and craft show season, I haven't been able to work on my small painting series. I am so excited to get going again!!! I'm in the process of choosing what I will be painting (I'm bouncing around a couple of ideas) and I will post it when it's done!!

"Billie The Kid"

$375
(includes custom framing)

"Billie The Kid"
Small Painting Series
4" x 5" original

This is my newest painting in my barnyard series. Who can resist a cute baby goat? Doing these paintings have taken me back to when I was a kid... schlepping around in the barnyard and hanging out with the different animals. In this original pastel painting I wanted to capture the mischievous personality that every goat "kid" playfully displays.

"Berry Sweet"

"Berry Sweet"

6" X 9" Pastel

I just finished the commission piece that I have been working on for awhile. This is titled “Berry Sweet”… I can never get enough of these sweet little chickadees. In this painting, I loved the challenge of giving all of the birds their own identity. Each one has a different head tilt which makes them appear to have individual personalities. Aren’t they charming?!?

Maine and Massachusetts have chosen this beautiful bird as their state bird. The Black-Capped Chickadee is sometimes known to eat out of a human's hand. Perhaps they are a little too humanized because they love to eat caterpillars, spiders, beetles, aphids and DOUGHNUTS!!

"Sunlit Hen"

SOLD
"Sunlit Hen"
Mini Painting Series
3" x 4" original

This is another painting in my barnyard series. Growing up, I always enjoyed observing the chickens and their quirky antics. I also marvel at the variety of colors each individual chicken can exhibit in the sunlight.

"Power Nap"

SOLD
"Power Nap"
Mini Painting Series
3" x 4" original

I grew up on a small ranch so I'm very comfortable with the dynamics of a barnyard. I'm relishing going back to my roots with the painting of these characters. I especially enjoyed depicting those cute little orange toes sticking from the shadow of it's protective mother's wing.

"Wait For Me"

SOLD
"Wait For Me"
Mini Painting Series
3" x 4" original

This painting took me back to last spring when the ducklings were brand new and sooo... adorable. I really enjoyed painting the soft down feathers against the water. Water is my favorite thing to paint!

"Gypsy Vanner By The Sea"

SOLD

"Gypsy Vanner By The Sea"
Small Painting Series
4" X 5" original

This is the second painting in my Gypsy Vanner series. Horses at the beach are beautiful because the breeze blows through their manes with a gentle rolling motion like the waves roll to the beach. I wanted to try and capture that feeling in this painting. This original painting is currently available on an ebay auction. Prints are also available in our ebay store.

"Palomino Gypsy"

SOLD

"Palomino Gypsy"
Small Painting Series
4" X 5" original

I'm going to be painting a series of Gypsy Vanner Horses this year and here is the first one! This is the first time I have painted a palomino and it was a lot of fun. I especially liked the challenge of applying the multiple layers to achieve the hair and the softness in the eyes.

Sacramento Trip

Hello!! Well we returned from our trip down to Sacramento for the judging of the California Upland Game Stamp contest. Though I didn't take top honors I did get into the ribbons and for my first time entering I'm happy. I did learn a lot with this experience and realize now that I should have done what I normally do, make it up close and all subject, lesson learned! I had such a wonderful support team..... my friends and family cheering me on, doesn't get any better than that. I can't thank you enough for being there with me braving the BIG storm just to hold my hand. THANK YOU!!!

"Focal Point"

SOLD
(includes custom framing)

"Focal Point"
Small Painting Series
4" x 5" original

This is the next painting in my wolf series. There were two things that I wanted to accomplish in this painting... I wanted to capture the geometric patterns in the wolf's wet fur and I wanted to contrast that with the soft colors of the intense eye.
